Airdrop

Print editions from a master edition straight into other wallets, or send a 1/1, without listing anything for sale.

The Airdrop tool prints editions from a master edition you hold and delivers each print to a wallet you choose. Recipients don't have to do anything. The print arrives in their wallet. The same tool can send a 1/1 to a single wallet.

Open it from Create → Airdrop, or choose Airdrop editions in the options menu of one of your master editions. You need to be signed in with a Solana wallet.

What You Can Airdrop

The first step asks What do you want to do?

OptionWhat it does
Airdrop EditionsPrints new editions from a master edition and sends them to a list of wallets, including your own
Airdrop a 1/1Transfers one 1/1 artwork to one wallet
See previous airdropsShows your past airdrops and the progress of any that are still running

Both Metaplex Core and Metaplex Legacy artworks are supported. An artwork appears in the list only if it's in your connected wallet, isn't listed for sale and isn't frozen. A master edition must also have supply left to print: either an open supply, or fewer prints than its maximum.

Building the Recipient List

After you choose a master edition, the Recipient details step offers four ways to add wallets. You can combine them.

MethodHow it works
Add recipientsSwitch on Last auction participants, My collectors or My followers. Each shows how many wallets it will add
Upload a hashlistDrop in a file of wallet addresses
Or add manuallySearch by mallow username or wallet address
Personal printsSet how many prints go to your own wallet

Last auction participants means everyone who bid in your most recent auction that ended in a sale.

Hashlist Files

FormatExpected contents
.txtOne wallet address per line
.csvWallet addresses in any cells. No header row is needed
.jsonA single array of wallet address strings

Duplicate addresses are removed and anything that isn't a valid Solana address is ignored. If the file has no valid address, the upload fails with No valid addresses found in the file.

Prints per Recipient

Every wallet you add starts with 1 print. Use the counter next to a wallet to send it more, or the x to remove it. Remove all clears the list.

Limits

  • 256 prints per airdrop, counted across all recipients and your personal prints. For more, run another airdrop once the first has finished
  • One airdrop per master edition at a time
  • Limited editions can't go past their maximum supply. Remaining prints shows what is left, and Exceeds max appears when the list is too long

Review and Send

The last step shows the current edition supply, the number of prints in this airdrop and the supply afterwards.

For a Metaplex Core master edition you can also tick Cap this edition supply to … after airdrop is complete. This sets the maximum supply to the new total, so no further editions can ever be printed from that master edition.

Choose How to Pay

Under Pay using, pick SOL or Cream. Open the cost details to see what makes up the SOL total.

Send

Click Send airdrop and approve one transaction in your wallet. Keep the page open until you see Airdrop started!

Wait for Delivery

mallow then prints the editions one at a time and sends each to its recipient. You're taken to See previous airdrops, where the airdrop shows Airdropping with a count of delivered prints, then Complete. You can leave the page while it runs.

Cost

Paying withWhat you pay
SOLFor each print: a mallow fee, the Metaplex fee and Solana account rent, plus the Solana transaction fee
CreamCream for each print, and no SOL. Core prints cost less Cream than Legacy prints

The mallow fee is listed on the fees page. Cream is explained in Cream and free mints.

Rent

When you pay with SOL, part of the total is rent for temporary accounts that track the airdrop. The review step shows the amount in a note: SOL from rent will be returned after the airdrop completes. Those accounts are closed once every print is delivered, and the rent goes back to your wallet. The rent for each printed edition itself isn't returned, because that account stays with the artwork.

What Recipients See

Each print lands directly in the recipient's wallet. Recipients with a mallow account get a notification that you airdropped them the artwork. You get a notification when the whole airdrop is complete.

If the master edition has exclusive content, holders of the airdropped prints can open it.

Airdropping a 1/1

  1. Choose Airdrop a 1/1 and pick the artwork.
  2. Under Recipient, enter a mallow username, a wallet address or a .sol domain.
  3. Click Send artwork and approve the transaction.

This is a plain transfer of the artwork. You pay only the Solana network fee, and you can't send to the wallet you're signed in with.

If Something Goes Wrong

  • The artwork is not in the list. It's listed for sale, frozen, held in a different wallet, or a limited edition that is already fully printed.
  • Master edition is already being airdropped. Wait for the running airdrop to show Complete before starting another from the same master edition.
  • Insufficient SOL to mint or Insufficient Cream. Your balance doesn't cover every print. Top up, switch payment method or shorten the list.
  • An airdrop stays on Airdropping. Prints are sent one by one, so a long list takes a while. The count on See previous airdrops updates as each print is delivered.
  • You sent to the wrong wallet. Prints and transfers can't be reversed. Check the list before you sign.
