Offers
Make an offer on an artwork on mallow, change or cancel it, and accept offers on artwork you own.
An offer is a price you name for one artwork. The owner can accept it at any time while it's open, whether or not the artwork is listed. Offers are made in SOL.
What you can make an offer on
| Artwork | Offers |
|---|---|
| A 1/1 that isn't listed | Yes |
| A single edition copy that isn't listed | Yes |
| A 1/1 or edition copy listed at a fixed price on mallow | Yes |
| An edition's sale page | No. Buy from the sale, or make an offer on a copy that a collector owns |
| An artwork in an auction, raffle, Gumball or Jellybean | No |
| A listing from Objkt or OpenSea | No. See Other marketplaces |
Offers work on Solana artworks. Each wallet can have one open offer per artwork.
Making an offer
Click Make offer
The button is on the artwork page. If you aren't signed in, it reads Sign in to make an offer. The Make offer window shows the Listed price, if there's one, and the current Highest offer.
Enter your offer
Type the amount in SOL under Enter your offer. The minimum is 0.01 SOL, and your wallet must hold more than the amount you offer. The window warns you in two cases:
- Your offer is higher than the listed price. You could buy the artwork now for less
- Your offer is lower than the highest offer. The owner sees the highest offer first
Click Submit offer and approve
Approve the transaction in your wallet. The window confirms with Offer placed!, and the artwork page now shows Cancel offer in place of Make offer.
An offer made this way has no expiry. To give it one, update it.
Where your SOL is held
| Moment | Where the SOL is |
|---|---|
| You make the offer | The full amount moves from your wallet to an escrow account for that one offer, which only the mallow market program controls |
| While the offer is open | It stays in escrow. You can't spend it, and the owner can't touch it without accepting the offer |
| You cancel | The full amount returns to your wallet |
| The owner accepts | The SOL is paid out and the artwork is sent to your wallet, in one transaction |
Opening the escrow account takes a small Solana rent deposit on top of your offer. It comes back to you when the offer is cancelled or accepted. Network fees aren't refunded.
An offer stays with the artwork. If the artwork is sold or transferred while your offer is open, the new owner can accept it.
Updating an offer
Open your profile, go to the Offers tab and choose Offers Made. Click Edit on the offer. The Update offer window has two settings.
Offer amount. Raise it and the difference moves from your wallet into escrow. Lower it and the difference comes back to you.
When should this offer expire?
| Option | The offer can be accepted until |
|---|---|
| 3 days | 3 days after you update it |
| 1 week | 7 days after you update it |
| 1 month | 30 days after you update it |
| Never | You cancel it |
The window opens with Never selected every time. If your offer had an expiry and you only want to change the amount, choose the expiry again before you click Update offer.
When an offer expires
An expired offer can no longer be accepted, and mallow notifies you. The SOL doesn't come back on its own. It stays in escrow until you cancel the offer.
Cancelling an offer
You can cancel at any time before the offer is accepted, expired or not. Either:
- click Cancel offer on the artwork page, or
- click Cancel next to the offer under Offers then Offers Made on your profile.
You get back the full offer amount and the rent deposit. Only the wallet that made an offer can cancel it.
While you have an open offer on an artwork listed at a fixed price, its page shows Cancel offer in place of Buy. Cancel the offer if you would rather buy at the list price.
Accepting an offer on artwork you own
You can accept an offer while your artwork is unlisted or listed at a fixed price on mallow. Accepting an offer on a listed artwork also cancels the listing. You can't accept offers while the artwork is in an auction or listed on another marketplace.
Find the offer
Your artwork's page shows the Highest offer and an Accept highest mallow offer button. A listed artwork also has View all offers, where you can page through the rest. Open offers on everything you own are listed on your profile under Offers then Offers Received, each with an Accept button.
Check what you receive
The Accept offer window shows the offer and how it's split: the share for mallow, the share for the creators, and the amount marked You. mallow's sale fee and the creator's royalties come out of the offer. Current rates are on Fees.
Click Accept offer and approve
The artwork goes to the collector and the SOL is paid out in the same transaction. You pay the network fee.
If the collector lowers the offer after you opened the window, the acceptance fails instead of selling for less. Reopen the window to see the new amount.
Notifications
mallow sends these in the app, and by email if your account has an email address with email notifications turned on:
| Notification | Sent to |
|---|---|
| A new highest offer on your artwork | The owner |
| Your offer was accepted | The collector who made it |
| Your offer expired | The collector who made it |
