Raffles
Enter a raffle on mallow: how tickets and wallet limits work, how the winner is drawn and announced, how to claim the prize, and why tickets are never refunded.
In a raffle, a seller puts one artwork up as the prize and sells a fixed number of tickets. When the raffle ends, one ticket wins the artwork. Every other ticket wins nothing, and its price isn't returned.
This page is for collectors. Sellers should read Raffle.
Who holds what
Raffles on mallow run on the Rafffle program from Famous Fox Federation. mallow shows the raffle and prepares the transactions, and the program does the rest:
| Where it is | |
|---|---|
| The prize | Held by the raffle program from the moment the raffle is created, until the winner claims it |
| Your ticket payment | Paid into the raffle's proceeds account, held by the program until the seller collects it after the draw |
| The winner | Recorded on chain by the program. mallow shows the result once it's recorded |
Buying tickets
Check the raffle
The artwork page shows the Ticket price, the countdown under Ends in, how many tickets are gone (for example 40 / 100 sold) and the Wallet limit.
Click Buy tickets
If you're signed out, the button reads Sign in to buy tickets. The Buy tickets window opens.
Set the quantity
Choose a Quantity. Total cost is the ticket price times the quantity, with an estimate in USD. Max: N per wallet under the counter is the most your wallet can hold in this raffle.
Click Buy tickets and approve
You pay in the raffle's token. The window confirms with Tickets purchased!
You can buy more later, up to your limit, for as long as the raffle is open and tickets remain. Once you hold tickets, the page shows You have N tickets and your Current chance: your tickets as a share of all tickets sold so far. It falls as other collectors buy.
The seller can't buy tickets in their own raffle.
How many tickets you can buy
Two limits apply to each wallet, and the lower one wins:
- The 40% cap. No wallet can hold more than 40% of a raffle's total tickets, rounded down. This applies to every raffle
- The seller's limit. A seller can set a lower number
The Wallet limit on the page is the result. A 100-ticket raffle allows 40 tickets per wallet at most. A 3-ticket raffle allows 1.
The limit counts every ticket your wallet has bought in that raffle, across all your purchases.
Holder-only raffles
A seller can restrict a raffle to collectors of up to three creators or collections that they name. Eligibility is checked against the wallet you're buying with:
- The wallet must hold an artwork by one of the named creators, or from one of the named collections
- The artwork must be in that same wallet. An artwork in another wallet linked to your profile doesn't count
- Compressed NFTs don't count
If your wallet doesn't qualify, the button in the Buy tickets window reads You are not allow-listed and you can't buy.
The draw
Ticket sales stop at the raffle's end time, or sooner if every ticket is sold. A raffle doesn't need to sell out:
| When the raffle ends with | What happens |
|---|---|
| At least one ticket sold | A winner is drawn from the tickets sold |
| No tickets sold | There's no draw. The seller takes the artwork back |
After the end time, the page shows Draw pending... until the winner is recorded on chain.
You find out in two places:
- On the artwork page. If you won, it reads Raffle Winner and You won! Otherwise it names the winner and how many tickets they won with
- In your mallow notifications. The winner is notified when the draw is recorded. Ticket holders also get a reminder about 30 minutes before the raffle ends
Claiming the prize
Winning doesn't move the artwork by itself. It stays with the raffle program until you claim it.
- Open the artwork's page while signed in with the winning wallet
- Click Claim NFT
- Approve the transaction
The page confirms with NFT claimed, and the artwork is under Owned on your profile.
The prize always goes to the wallet that holds the winning ticket, whichever wallet signs the claim. mallow sets no deadline for claiming.
Refunds and cancellations
Tickets are never refunded, whether you change your mind after buying or your ticket doesn't win. Each ticket is spent as soon as the transaction confirms.
A seller can cancel a raffle only while no tickets have been sold. Once one ticket is sold, the seller can no longer cancel or take the artwork back, and the raffle runs to its draw.
Physical artworks
A raffle's prize can include a physical piece. The artwork page then shows This listing includes a physical. Click it to read the seller's message, and any Unlocks at amount they have set.
mallow doesn't ask a raffle winner for a shipping address, so delivery is arranged with the seller directly. Read their message before you buy tickets, and ask them if anything about the physical is unclear. Physicals are the seller's responsibility to deliver, and mallow doesn't resolve disputes about them. See Physicals.
What you pay
| Tickets | The ticket price times the quantity, in the raffle's token |
| On top | Solana's network costs for each purchase, in SOL |
| To claim a prize | Solana's network costs, in SOL |
Nothing is added to the ticket price. The raffle fee is taken from the seller's proceeds after the draw. The current amount is on Fees.
Tickets are paid in the raffle's own token. Swapping from another token isn't offered here.
If something goes wrong
| What you see | What happened |
|---|---|
| Max allowable tickets reached | The purchase would take your wallet over its limit |
| Insufficient supply | Fewer tickets are left than the quantity you chose |
| Insufficient funds | Your wallet doesn't hold enough of the raffle's token. The message shows your balance |
| You are not allow-listed | The raffle is holder-only and your wallet doesn't qualify |
| Switch to Solana wallet to buy | You're signed in with a wallet from another chain |
| Failed to buy tickets | The transaction didn't complete. No tickets were bought and the price wasn't taken |
| Draw pending... for a long time | The winner hasn't been recorded yet. You don't need to do anything. Tickets can no longer be bought or changed |
